The Diocese has announced the nominees for the Bishop of Rupert’s Land, to be elected by Synod on May 31.

Each candidate presented a written response to questions, a CV, and a video interview. You can see the candidates and their responses on the Diocesan website, below:

The Convening Circular is available to download as a pdf here. It contains information about the Synod, the electoral process, and the candidates.

Please take some time to read and watch the information on the nominees, then let your synod delegates know who you feel is best suited to lead our Diocese.

Your All Saints delegates to Synod are:

  • Joel Baliddawa

  • Lorraine Thistlethwaite

  • Chris Whitmore

The Clergy of All Saints will also be voting:

  • The Rev. Rob Schoeck

  • The Rev. Carl Harrison

  • The Rev. Barbara Shoomski

As you contemplate the candidates for Bishop, please bear in mind the Diocesan Profile and the results of the Diocesan Survey conducted by our Search Committee.

It may be tempting to approach this as a popularity contest but discernment is called for – who will best enable our diocese to build on our opportunities and who will assist our parishes to respond creatively to their challenges; those are the questions we need to answer.”

Parishioners who are not Synod Delegates are welcome to attend the 120th Session of the Synod of the Diocese of Rupert’s Land as an observer (non voting). If you are interested in observing you must register before May 23rd at https://form.jotform.com/251034508783255 . Please contact Melissa at the Diocese if you have any questions about attending. 204-992-4200 or general@rupertsland.ca
