Collection drive for fire evacuees

Over 17,000 people have been evacuated from their communities as the wildfires continue to burn in northern Manitoba. Many left their homes with only what they could carry and may not have a home to return to.

For the next few weeks we will be collecting donations for the evacuees at the back of the church and delivering them to the Southern Chiefs’ Organization.

Based on current needs as of June 3, 2025, SCO is accepting the following items:

  • Baby items: Clothes, diapers, diaper cream, formula, playpens, sippy cups, and strollers

  • Bags: Reusable cloth bags, backpacks, duffel bags, small suitcases, Ziploc bags

  • Blankets and pillows

  • Clothing: Socks, underwear (new items only), sun hats, and summer clothes only

  • Children’s items: Colouring books, craft supplies, and toys like Barbies, trucks, board games, etc.

  • Gift cards of any denomination

  • Hygiene items: Adult wipes, bars of soap, brushes, combs, conditioner, deodorant, antiperspirant, Kleenex, lip balm, menstrual products, razors and shaving cream, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, and Wet Ones

  • Microwave: New and/or gently-used

  • Toiletries bag

  • Towels and washcloths

  • Treats/snacks: Granola bars, fruit snacks, nuts, chocolate, drink boxes

  • Non-perishable foods—food like cups of noodles, KD in a cup, etc.

  • Water: Bottled and/or distilled

Note: All snacks and donated food items must be in their original packaging.

If you want to make a monetary donation, we recommend donating to the Red Cross Manitoba Wildfires Appeal or to the Alongside Hope In-Canada Emergency Fund.
